Mechanisims of asthma and allergic disease – 1090. Eosinophils enhance airway smooth muscle cell proliferation via the release of cystl leukotrines

چکیده
Background Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the lung airways that is associated with airway remodeling and hyperresponsiveness. Its is well documented that the smooth muscle mass in asthmatic airways is increased due to hypertrophy and hyperplasia of the ASM cells. Moreover, eosinophils have been proposed in different studies to play a major role in airway remodeling. Here, we hypothesized that eosinophils modulate the airways through enhancing ASM cell proliferation. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of eosinophils on ASM cell proliferation using eosinophils isolated from asthmatic and normal.

Effect of Tumor Necrosis Factor Family Member LIGHT (TNFSF14) on the Activation of Basophils and Eosinophils Interacting with Bronchial Epithelial Cells
Allergic asthma can cause airway structural remodeling, involving the accumulation of extracellular matrix and thickening of smooth muscle. Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) family ligand LIGHT (TNFSF14) is a cytokine that binds herpesvirus entry mediator (HVEM)/TNFRSF14 and lymphotoxin β receptor (LTβR). LIGHT induces asthmatic cytokine IL-13 and fibrogenic cytokine transforming growth factor-β rele...

Background Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease induced by Type 2helper T cells (Th2) and eosinophils. Vascular cell adhesion molecule-1(VCAM-1) is the regulatory receptor implicated with recruiting eosinophils andlymphocytes to pathologic site in asthma. A monoclonal antibody (mAb)against VCAM-1 may attenuate allergic inflammation and pathophysiologicfeatures of asthma. Weevaluated whether...

متن کاملMechanisims of asthma and allergic disease – 1092. Regulation of profibrotic cytokines release from human eosinophils by Th17 cytokines
Background Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the lung airways that is associated with airway remodeling and hyperresponsiveness. One of the most critical structural changes that affect airway functionality is fibrotic tissue deposition within the airway wall. Eosinophils have been proposed in different studies to contribute to the production of several mediators and cytokines, includ...
متن کاملAsthma: Eosinophil Disease, Mast Cell Disease, or Both?
: Although there is much circumstantial evidence implicating eosinophils as major orchestrators in the pathophysiology of asthma, recent studies have cast doubt on their importance. Not only does anti-interleukin-5 treatment not alter the course of the disease, but some patients with asthma do not have eosinophils in their airways, whereas patients with eosinophilic bronchitis exhibit a florid ...
